The Kindly Welcome
Ah! ‘twill only be a shower,
Tho’ the wind is from the West,
Just in for half-an-hour
And give yerself a rest.
And was that what ye wor sketchin’ –
Just the turf stack an’ the whins?
And yer death o’ cowld yer ketchin’ –
Mary Ann, put out them hins!
An’ that picture, do ye say now
Ye could sell for thirty bob?
Still, this paintin’ in a way now
Is a very lonesome job.
. . . . . .
Oh! now yer welcome, honey,
To a little sup like that;
Is it me be takin’ money
For what wouldn’t feed the cat!
